Payment
If you are traveling to Bali and larger cities, it is not a problem to pay by card. Many travelers use Revolut bank card when traveling, which you can easily even in Indonesia. However, if you plane to travel to more remote areas, it is a good idea to have cash ready as well. We recomment withdrawing cash from ATMs belonging to banks, or ask where it is safe to withdraw. Some travelers have experiences card hacking after making withdrawals from local ATM. If you prefer exchange money, you can exchange money at airports and in cities, but check the exchange rate and fees. Airports usually have a less favorable rate.

SIM
The most practical and cheapest is to buy a local SIM, which you can get already at the airport, but it can be a bit more expensive than outside the airport. When buying, they may ask you for your phone’s IMEI and passport. Among the most reliable operators with the best coverage around Indonesia is Telkomsel. You can find their stores all over Bali and Indonesia. If you are staying for a longer period of time, you can download the app and continuously top up data and credit. The price of a SIM with a basic data package and credit will cost you around IDR 150,000. For more information, you can check the Telkomsel website: https://www.telkomsel.com/en

If you are traveling in Asia, you can aĺso purchase roaming with Telkomsel SIM, for example for Vietnam, Malaysia or teh Philippines, via the app. Local roaming will definitely cost you less than with Czech SIM.

Currently it is also possible to buy an eSIM, for example Revolut is now offering this service. However, check whether it is worth it in terms of price, it usually costs more than buying a local SIM. However, if you prefer convenience and want to be online immediately upon arrival, this may be the right service for you.

Applications
Before your trip, you can download useful apps that will make your traveling easier. Some of the most popular apps are:

Gojek: A local app for ordering transport, food and other services. Very useful for comfortable travel around city.

Google maps: An indispensable application for navigation and orientation in an unknown environment.

Grab: Similar to Gojek. You can use this app all over Southeast Asia. Transportation, food and other services can be ordered through Grab.

KLOOK: An app you can use all over the world. Klook offers organized tours, transportation, attraction tickets and other experiences. You can explore what the location has to offer. It can also help you compare prices with local agencies, which sometimes have inflated prices.

Tokopedia: If you are staying for a long time, you may need to buy cosmetics, electronics, etc. You can use the local online shopping application Tokopedia, where you can find both local and foreign products. Its disadvantage is that the application on the phone is only in Indonesian. But if you use a computer, English can be set.
